informative speeches

Overall I was really impressed with the first round of informative speeches, however I believe the narrative ones were a bit more interesting. I really enjoyed the speech on paul reubens. It was funny and entertaining, but most importantly it was engaging and definately well delivered. All the visual aids were really interesting, especially Angel' music video and Gaby's use of sign language. The music video backed what Angel was saying very well, and Gaby's visual choice was very creative. I also think people this time around were a little more relaxed, and it showed positively in their speeches.

first speech

In my first speech, I learned not to talk about something so personal. It's a lot different to talk about something so life altering in front of complete strangers as opposed to all my friends. However, I am glad that I did it, because I learned that although I'm not comfortable speaking about myself, speaking in front of the group wasn't so bad. I also think that in terms of my outline, next time I'll need a different approach. It was kind of all over the place and not helpful at all. From now on I'll be more attentive at creating my outline, and regulating what is important and what isn't.

Abbey!!

My name is Abbey and I'm from Groton, MA. I'm pretty inexperienced when it comes to public speaking, so there are a lot of things I hope to acheive by taking this class. First I would like to familiarize myself with all the techniques I will be needing to improve my publis speaking. I would then like to be able to apply what I've learned both inside and outside the classroom so that in the future when I am speaking in front of a crowd I will sound as professional as possible and won't humiliate myself, whichis usually the case.
